As a mom of 3, I like dinners that are quick AND taste good. I love dinners I can prep ahead of time too. After a 10 hour shift, let’s be honest, no one wants to cook. Thus, chili dog bubble bake was created!
This dinner combines a classic chili dog with a bubble biscuit bake. This recipe is easy to customize to your liking. The best part is, it’s EASY! It just takes chopping a few ingredients and throwing them together to bake. OR – like I said before, it can be made ahead of time to save some time in the evening.
Ingredients:
- 1 package of hot dogs
- 2 cans of chili
- 1 cup of cheddar cheese
- 1 can of biscuits
Only 4 ingredients! I love a good dinner idea that’s under 5 ingredients…as long as it tastes good of course!
Let’s get cooking!
Step 1: preheat your oven to 375°.
Step 2: grease your baking dish. I used an 8×8 here which made the baking take slightly longer. I would recommend using a bigger dish like an 8×11 or a 9×13 to avoid adding minutes to the cook time.
Slice the hot dogs up. Add the sliced hot dogs, chili, and half of the cheese to the baking dish. Stir them together so that the cheese and chili are covering the hot dog slices.
Step 3: cut biscuits up. I cut each biscuit into 6. If you have any dough balls significantly larger than the others, cut them in half. We want everything to cook at the same rate.
Layer biscuits on top of the chili and hot dog layer as evenly as possible.
Step 4: top with the remaining cheese on top of the biscuit layer. Place in preheated oven and bake for 25-35 minutes. As I previously said, mine took a little longer because I used a deeper dish. Just check your biscuits in the center to make sure they are cooked through before serving. I also rotated my dish halfway through baking because my oven tends to be hotter in the back than it is in the front.
I served with standard chili dog toppings. My personal favorite are ketchup, mustard, and tomato relish. I served with Brussels sprouts on the side.
Anything with hot dogs is always a hit with my kids so this was a win for our family. We will be adding this into our weekly rotation since it is so easy to make ahead. I hope you enjoyed! Let me know in the comments if you try this recipe and any changes you made.
