CHEERS! It’s a new year! Before we start anew, it’s a great time to think about how thankful we are for the blessings we had throughout the year. Each New Year’s Eve looks a little bit different each year. Another year older and another change to think about all the changes that happened during the year, good and bad. It’s important to reflect over the hills and valleys both of the year. Hopefully when you reflect, you can focus more on the hills and how the valleys helped get you to those hills.
Our plans were muddled this year by a sickness going around (story of our lives anymore), but that didn’t mean that we couldn’t still have fun at home on our own. We decided to try all of the flavors of sparkling juice this year. We honestly couldn’t remember which one was our favorite from last year. I still think it was the red grape one, but we decided to give all the flavors a try for fun.
I found these plastic stemless mini glasses at our dollar tree. They were perfect to let the kids feel like they were extra special, but not glass to avoid any bad messes.
I used a cream cheese frosting I had already and some silver sprinkles I had already in the pantry.
Our menu for NYE was full of “finger” foods. Lots of different dips, crackers, pizza rolls, mozzarella cheese sticks, fried pickles, and maybe a little bit of heart burn. We typically do something similar every year, add something new, take something away. Sometimes we add in crock pot foods like meatballs, lil smokies, or tortellini. No matter what, it winds up being a meal that everyone talks about for the month. My daughter has asked me at least twice if we can have that again! Of course, to me it felt like the most unplanned dinner of the year…but to her it was something new and different and exciting. Maybe we should have some more random dinners thrown in the year. I’ll have to think about that.
All you need to do is dip the rim of the plastic cup into the frosting and twist so that it sticks to the cup, then press the frosted end into some sprinkles. I used cream cheese frosting and silver sprinkles. Once you have the sprinkles added, carefully pour in your sparkling juice of choice. Try to not get the sprinkles wet so that they don’t run or start dissolving before you get to do your CHEERS!
We are going to have to do these again because even though we toasted at about 10pm, my youngest was already sacked out in bed. So he missed all the fun…but I don’t think he cared haha.
Let me know if you give these a shot and how they turn out. Also, let me know what your favorite sparkling juice flavor is because I may need to try it out!
